Police authorities in Kano state have confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with brutal murder of Muhammad Usman Dayyabu, a staff of the Federal Government College (FGC) Kwali, Abuja.

Confirming the arrest to Daily Trust yesterday, the Police Public Relation Officer, Kano state Command, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, said the suspects are currently assisting police’s investigation.

Late Dayyabu, who was until his death, a masters’ degree student at Bayero University Kano (BUK), left his house around 7:30 pm on Monday, April 3, 2017 to the mosque in Dangoro village to observe the Isha’i prayer, but could not return home.

The deceased’s lifeless body was found near to his house in Dangoro village in the early hours of Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

However, Majia said preliminary investigation by the police suggested that the deceased had a serious struggle with his killers before he was finally murdered, as some signs of struggle were noticed on his corpse.

“From our investigation, the deceased was overpowered and murdered by the yet-to-be identified killers. We are still investigating the matter and we will not relent in our efforts until we unveil the murderers,” he assured.

Majia added that the case has been transferred to the command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the directives of the Police Commissioner, Rabi’u Yusuf, who ordered for speedy investigation of the matter.
