The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of two persons, 21-year-old Nurudeen Eshinrogunjo and his 27-year-old Moshood Tiamiyu, for alleged gun-running.
The arrest came barely two weeks after the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, paraded 19-year-old Shapraku Umade and Moses Anzuur, 19, for allegedly smuggling locally made pistols into Lagos from Benue State.
Eshinrogunjo and Tiamiyu were said to have been arrested separately while they were attempting to sell guns to other robbery gangs in the Lagos metropolis.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, told our correspondent on Monday that detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command on surveillance patrol arrested Tiamiyu on August 15, 2020 with a pistol at the Mile 12 market, while Eshinrogunjo was nabbed with a pistol at the Jakande area.
“Both suspects will be charged to court at the end of investigation. Efforts are on to arrest the other members of the gang as it is believed that the suspects cannot be working in isolation,” Elkana added.
