Police arrest 2 ex-convicts over burglary in Ekiti

The Ekiti State police command has arrested two ex-convicts for alleged burglary.

The arrested ex-convicts are Dare Agbadaola and Ameye Ayo, said to have burgled residential apartments, a place of worship and shops, carting away household items and church properties.

They were arrested by officers from the IIawe police division on August 16, 2022.

During interrogation, the suspects were said to have confessed to the commission of the crime, and led police operatives to where the stolen items were kept.

The command spokesman, DSP Sunday Abutu, said items recovered included one unregistered TVS motorcycle, one Suzuki motorcycle, one freezer, a roll of rug, three single-upholstered chairs and four double-upholstered chairs.

Others were  one a  pulpit belonging to Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), one  church curtain, three  plastic drums, one  stabilizer, four  wall clocks, two generators, four  big church amplifiers, plastic chairs and tables,  three big church speakers, one wall fan and a half roll of wire.

Also, one  DStv decoder, one StarTimes decoder, two  DVD players, two bundles of iron sheets, one big foam, one  wardrobe, one  wooden table, two glass shelves, plates, cups, headpans and four bags of cement.

The suspects would be arraigned accordingly while efforts are ongoing to recover other stolen items, he said.
