Police arrest 2 cultists on mission to avenge member’s death

Two suspected members of a notorious cult gang, Alimi Abdurasak 18, and Eniola Shamsideen, 18, have been arrested by police while on a mission to avenge the killing of a member by rival gang in the Agege area of Lagos.

City and Crime learnt that the suspects were arrested by operatives from Elere Police Station, Lagos State Police Command at about 1.50am along Agbotikuyo area of Agege.

It was also learnt that the suspects who had attempted to bolt away on siting an anti-crime patrol team stationed along Agbotikuyo, but were cornered by the officers who had suspected their presence in the area.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest said the two suspected cult gang members were arrested on October 6, 2024.

Hundeyin said the suspects are both from the Oniwaya area of Agege.

“At the time of the arrest, the suspects were found with a black bag. When the bag was searched, two axes and two bottles were recovered from them. Investigation is ongoing and the suspects would soon be charged to court,” he said.
