Police arrest 12 kidnappers in Nasarawa, 3 robbers in Kogi

No fewer than twelve suspected kidnappers reportedly behind the kidnapping of 26 Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) officials who were abducted in September last year along Mararaba-Udege road in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have been arrested.

The 12 suspected kidnappers were also believed to be behind the kidnap of the two wives of the former Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Mr. Aliyu Ahmed Tijani.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Nasarawa State Command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the arrest to our correspondent on Wednesday, said the officials of FRSC who came to the state from Sokoto and Abuja identified some of the suspects during their parade at the command.

Meanwhile, the Kogi Police Command has arrested three armed robbers who invaded a POS Shop at Ogidi Community in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state.

The police also recovered one single barrel gun and phones in the course of its operations which led to the arrest of the robbers.

The Commissioner of Police, Ede Ayuba, said that the arrest was pursuant to his earlier directive to all the area commanders, divisional police officers, operational and tactical commanders as well as intelligence officers to secure public places and guarantee a safe and secure environment for all.

Auba said operatives of Operation Puff Adder II attached to Iyara Division received a report that on Tuesday at about 2200hrs, three armed men invaded a POS shop at Ogidi, attacked the operator, inflicted injury on him and forcefully collected an unspecified amount of money. He said the suspects will soon be arraigned in a court of competent jurisdiction on completion of investigation, a statement issued by the police spokesman said.
