Police arrest 10 illegal BDC operators in Edo

The Edo State Police Commissioner, CP Funsho Adeboye, has disclosed that the police have arrested 10 illegal Bureau de Change operators in the state.

Addressing journalists at the state command, Fusho alleged that those arrested were operating illegally along the road in Benin City.

“We arrest 10 forex hawkers. That is the people who illegally deal in the sales of foreign currencies. They have been identified for illegal deals in sales of foreign currencies”

He said that forex hawkers determine to a great extent the rate of the naira in exchange for the dollar and other foreign currencies.

“We have Bureau De Change who are operating legally and we didn’t touch them but we only arrest those who hawks foreign currencies,’’ he said.
