Police arraign man over theft of chair

The police on Wednesday arraigned a 39-year-old man, Adetimehin Adekunle, before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court, Ekiti State, for stealing a cane chair.

 The prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant stole a basket chair valued at N30,000 belonging to one Ademilua Seun; a basket pepper and cow skin valued at N42,000 belonging to one Olaoluwa Adeogun.

He further said the defendant also stole 20 tubers of yam valued at N20,000 belonging to one Olayiwola Esther.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty and his counsel, Mr Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant him bail.

The Magistrate, Mrs Franca Olaiya, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned to December 15. (NAN)
