A suspected cultism kingpin, Ahmed Jimoh, has been arraigned before a magistrates’ court in Ilorin over offences bordering on cultism, possession of firearms and robbery.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Jimoh was arrested after a police team executed a search warrant in a two-bedroom apartment occupied by the defendant and his wife at Lanre Gada area of Ilorin.

“During the search, the police made a recovery of 16 wraps of hard a drug known as ice, different types of criminal charms, a black facemask and one locally-made double-barrel pistol.
“In the course of investigation, he voluntarily confessed to be a member of the Eiye secret cult and owner of all the items recovered from him, including the gun except the ice,” the charge sheet said.
The prosecutor, Mathew Ologbonsaye, urged the court to remand the defendant pending the outcome of investigation.
In her ruling, Magistrate Afusat Alege ordered the remand of the defendant at a correctional facility and adjourned the matter till July 7, 2022 for further mention.
