Eight workers of Dangote Petrochemical and Oil Refinery were on Tuesday arraigned by the police before a Federal High Court, Lagos, over offences bordering on conspiracy and willful and unlawful damage of the company’s property.
The arraigned workers before Justice Paul Odo are Larry Irek, Plus Omeke, Jasper Dick, Gideon Idah, Ojey Jerry Endurance, Hassan Saidu, Igwe David and Nweke Chike.
The prosecutor, Effiong Asuquo, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), told the court that the defendants and others at large damaged electricity cables.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor then asked for a trial date and urged the court to remand all the defendants in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Counsel of the defendants asked the court for a short date to enable him bring their bail applications before the court.
Justice Lifu ordered that all the defendants be remanded till the hearing and determination of their bail application and adjourned the case to January 21, 2022.
