The police in Ogun State, vigilantes and members othe Amotekun security group have arrested nine members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorising Abeokuta-Ayetoro road in Abeokuta North LGA of the state.

The suspects were apprehended on Sunday when the joint security forces stormed their hideout at Abule Oba, off Ayetoro Road, Abeokuta.

The suspects are Hammed Taiwo, Kehinde Jimoh, Umar Sanda, Sanda Aliu, Ali Morandu, Usman Abubakar, Usman Mohammed, Umaru Ahmadu and Umaru Momodu.

The police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Monday, told newsmen that the police had gathered that Hammed Taiwo and Kehinde Jimoh, who are commercial motorcyclists running errands for the kidnapping syndicate, were sighted in Rounder area of Abeokuta.

He said following the intelligence gathering, the police swung into action and arrested the two.

He further said, “On interrogation, they confessed been part of the syndicate, but that their own role is to run errands and watch the environment to prevent law enforcement agents from getting to them unawares.”

He said their confession led to the discovery of the hideout of the group at Abule Oba, off Ayetoro Road, “where they always met after collecting ransom from their victims.”

Oyeyemi said some of victims had identified the suspects as their abductors.
