Police, Ali Kwara comb kidnappers’ den in Bauchi, free hostages

The Bauchi State Police Command, in collaboration with a renowned civillian crime fighter, Alhaji Ali Kwara, have carried out a major operation in Yuga forest, a notorious hideout for kidnappers in Toro Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Commissioner, Zaki Ahmed, disclosed this in Bauchi, saying the joint operation was carried out to stem the rampant cases of kidnapping, cattle rustling and armed banditry along Toro, Gumau and Ningi Axis.

He said the operation, which was carried out between January 5 and 10, led to the arrest of many criminals and the rescue of several hostages. 

He said the suspected criminals opened fire on sighting the police and hunters which triggered a fierce gun battle.  

“After incurring heavy casualties, the hoodlums abandoned their rifles and escaped into the bush with bullet wounds,” he said.

The commissioner said various weapons were recovered from the suspects.
