Plateau’s Tarok call for cancellation of LG election

The Tarok people of Plateau State where the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Sen. Jeremiah Useni comes from have called for a cancellation of the recently concluded local government election in the state saying it was marred by irregularities and crisis.

The Tarok, under Ngwang Ishi O’Tarok, an umbrella socioeconomic and cultural organisation alleged that candidates had passed through vigorous processes and made payments of huge sums of money before clearance for the election and at the end, the results were manipulated.

A statement signed by the Caretaker Committee President of the group, David Dashe thanked the Langtang joint traditional council and elders who intervened to calm down the situation during the recent protest as a result of the election.Daily Trust reports that Governor Simon Bako Lalong has urged all those aggrieved during the local government election to visit the election petition tribunals.
