They noted that Nigerian youth have been neglected and not involved in decision making despite having the highest population in the country.
“The recent #EndSARS protest movement, which was hijacked by hoodlums was as a result of lack of involvement of young people in governance and decision making, despite the fact that the youth have the largest population in the society, but are not involved in decision making.”
The youth leaders added that youth in the country are hungry to participate in decision making that affects them.
“At the end of the dialogue the recommendations will be presented to policymakers for them to see the reason to involve youths in decision making”.
Guest Speaker at the occasion who is a Senior Lecturer at Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola, Dr. Chris Kwaja, said the youth represented what has severally been described as the country’s “demographic dividend”.
He said this was largely due to their productive capacity and as principal agents for peace and development.
