The Plateau State Ministry of Health, on Thursday, unsealed Hill College of Nursing and Midwifery.
Daily Trust reports that the college was earlier closed down by the ministry following the rumour making the round that it has started operating without meeting the expected requirements to operate.
But the Director of Nursing Services, of the ministry and state chairman of the monitoring team of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Mrs. Ladi Davou Zuh opened up the college, adding that the decision came after reaching an agreement with the college proprietress, Hajiya Nafisa Omar.
She said: “The college was sealed on 22 September 2020 because of the rumors that she is training students before meeting the requirement but she had denied that she was not training any student and she is still working towards fulfilling all requirements.”
The director said the nursing council and the state ministry of health were very careful to ensure that every professional body fulfilled its requirements before operating, adding that by the visit to the college, the proprietress has fulfilled all requirements, except the 265 minimum of hospital bed requirement.
She urged the proprietress to do the right thing before the commencement of any training.
The college proprietress, Hajiya Nafisa Omar, said as a patriotic daughter of Plateau State, she has a strong commitment to health care promotion especially maternal health, safe motherhood, and immunisation.
“Given the foregoing, I stand gladly to notify you that I am the proprietor of the Hill College of Nursing and Midwifery, Jos, and wish to affirm to you that the aforementioned college is still in the process of establishment.
“Hence no admission or even the sale of application forms has started,” she said.
