In a bid to retain the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title and return to continental football next season, Plateau United have boosted their squad with the signing of four players.
The players added to the United’s side included midfielders Bature Yaro, Seth Mayi and strikers Hamzat Owolabi and Akila Jesse.
Plateau United have lost about nine players to injuries and the club is currently fourth on the log, as they struggle to retain Nigeria Professional Football League title it won last season.
The Club’s Media Officer, Albert Dakup, who made the disclosure in a statement, also said that the decision to sign the players became necessary in order to strengthen the side as the club want to compete favourably with other title contenders.
Dakup revealed that apart from Akila who joins the club from Lagos side – MFM; other players have been part of the team but weren’t registered at the beginning of the season due to contractual issues or loss of form.
Dakup added that Akila Jesse, who was part of the Flying Eagles, would be available for selection as the Peace Boys take on Nasarawa United in Jos this weekend.
“Bature Yaro, who was a member of CHAN 2015 team in Rwanda under Sunday Oliseh and he was not registered for the first half of the season because he returned late to the team after short travails in Europe,” he said.
He further explained that Seth Mayi has already played for the team as he was magnificent in the club’s 1-1 draw against Akwa United in Wednesday’s rescheduled game – providing an assist for another new boy – Hamzat Owolabi to score the equalizer.
