Plateau retirees cry out over unpaid pension

Retired staff of Hill Station Hotel, Jos, have cried over non-payment of their pension since their retirement in 2016, saying they were neglected after serving for many years.

In a letter addressed to the Plateau State government and Plateau House of Assembly in Jos, the retirees said they have been going through untold hardship as a result of the non-payment of their entitlements, adding that it was unfortunate that their families had become beggars. They called on Governor Lalong to come to their aid.

The retirees made their cry in a letter signed by their chairman, Mr. Joseph Akupo and Secretary Mr. Joseph Daniel.

“We want his excellency to know that our final benefits have not been paid to us. The retirees, therefore, called on Governor Simon Lalong to look into their plight and ensure that their entitlements are paid.

Contacted for reaction, the state commissioner of Tourism, Tamwakat Weli‎, did respond to several calls put to him and SMS sent to his phone were not replied up till the time of filing the report.
