The Plateau State government said it has concluded arrangement to organize a strategic science and technology summit.
It said this is in its quest to become the bedrock of science and technology in the northern part of the country,
The Commissioner of Science and Technology, Hon. Dan Manjang, disclosed this in his office in Jos when officials of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council, paid him a familiarization visit.
He said the state had great potentials for science and technology, including sufficient and relevant equipment in different institutions where technological equipment are manufactured.
“Attention would be shifted to the School of Relevant Technology Board, Katako, Science Incubation Centre and Government Technical College Bukuru where technological equipment for practicals in secondary and tertiary institutions in the state are fabricated. The state will also partner with Facebook, WhatsApp and Micro Soft to propel activities of science and technology in Plateau and in northern Nigeria,” he said.
In his remark, the Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Aminu Yusuf-Idegu, pledged the chapel’s support towards the project, saying that the world was quickly advancing technologically.
