The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has announced that the long awaited local government elections would hold on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
The commission explained that the elections would hold following a clearance given by the security agencies in the state.
The commission, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Fabian Ntung, clarified that the elections would hold in 13 out of the 17 local government areas of the state.
He said, “The local government areas where elections would hold included, Bassa, Bokkos, Jos East, Kanam, Kanke, Langtang North, Langtang South, Mangu, Mikang, Pankshin, Qua’an Pan, Shendam and Wase.”
Mr Ntung also disclosed that the elections wouldn’t hold in Barikin Ladi, Jos North, Jos South and Riyom local government areas respectively.
The commission also assured the people of the state free, fair and credible elections.
