Plateau killing: Troops arrest ‘killer’ of Ardo of Panyam in Lagos

The tactical team of Operation Safe Haven, a multi-security taskforce operating in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states, on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of a prime suspect in the murder of a Fulani leader in Panyam District of Mangu Local Government Area of the state.

The Ardo was first declared missing on September 24, reportedly on his way back from a visit to the district head of the area after which his corpse was later discovered in a village bordering Plateau and Bauchi states.

The killing of the Fulani leader has unsettled the area as concerns persisted over the implications on the fragile peace in the community.

The arrest of the suspect may likely reassure members of the Fulani community in Panyam and across Plateau State of justice from the system, which will be critical to the peace building process in the state.

Ardo Idris was before his demise, the leader of Fulani in the area and his murder was highly condemned by many groups and individuals including the state governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang.
