The governorship results from 16 out of the 17 local government areas of Plateau State declared on Sunday night show incumbent Governor Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC) heading for victory.
Lalong has so far defeated his main rival, Sen. Jeremiah Useni of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 10 of the 17 local government areas of the state.
Based on results so far declared at the state Collation Centre in Jos, Lalong is leading in Jos East, Kanke, Bokkos, Mikang, Pankshin, Kanam and Jos North local government areas.
Others include Wase, Mangu and Qua’an Pan local government areas while results from Langtang North, Langtang South, Barkin Ladi, Jos South, Bassa and Riyom has Sen. Jeremiah Useni leading.
As at 1:00am early Monday, results of the 16 local government areas as computed by our correspondents show that Lalong is leading with 317 votes but results from the governor’s home LG of Shendam still expected at the time may most likely be the game changer.
However, the results were on a three hour journey from Shendam to Jos as at the time of filing this report.
