Fulani communities in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State have raised an alarm over attacks on their members by men disguised as soldiers.
They said that the men who were always in their numbers also came to their areas in soldiers’ uniforms to attack and in many cases kill.
The Fulani, who are mostly herders, raised the alarm on Sunday when the commander of Sector 5, Operation Safe Haven, Lt. Col. Isaac Indiorghwer paid a condolence visit to the family of the 17-year-old herder who was stabbed to death by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums in Mbar community of Bokkos.
While raising some of their concerns to the sector commander, Shagari Abdullahi, a leader of the Fulani in the area, also complained about the activities of Operation Rainbow against their members and the incidents of isolated killings in Bokkos general area, calling on the Nigerian Army to address the challenges.
Responding, the sector commander assured the herders of the army’s commitment to tackle the current challenges facing the residents of Bokkos generally.
The commander, while acknowledging how some bad eggs use army uniforms to commit crimes, assured the communities that they would do everything possible to address the problems, adding that he would meet Operation Rainbow on the matter.
