Plateau: Fulani leader’s corpse found inside well

The corpse of a missing Fulani leader, Umar Ibrahim, who got missing on Wednesday, has been found in an abandoned well in Jokom community in Mangu town of Mangu LGA of Plateau State.

The late Ibrahim was the Ciroma of Kumbun District in Mangu LGA.

The spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a security task force maintaining peace in the state, Captain Oya James, confirmed the incident.

Meanwhile, the leadership of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), explained that Ibrahim went missing when he left a hospital on Wednesday to buy food for his wife who was on admission in Mangu but did not return until Sunday afternoon when his body was recovered in the well.

Garba Abdullahi, state chairman of the group, said, “He visited his wife at the sickbay in Mangu. Around 6pm on Wednesday, he went out to buy food for her but didn’t return. After searching for four days, the body was found in an abandoned well close to the hospital. The corpse was recovered in the presence of the soldiers attached to Operation Safe Haven who have been maintaining peace in the area.”

He further said, “We are calling on all our members to remain calm and never take the law into their hands. We should continue to be law-abiding. The security agencies are doing their best. We are calling on the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act and bring them to book.”
