The Plateau Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has deployed 1,282 personnel to ensure free flow of traffic in the state during Easter period.
Mrs. Pat Emeordi, the Sector Commander of the corps in the state, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Jos that the deployment consisted of regular and special marshals.
“For Easter celebration, we have deployed 1,282 regular and special marshals in Plateau State. This will consist of 725 regular marshals and 557 special marshals.
“These personnel will be stationed at strategic locations to ensure free flow of traffic in the state,” she said.
She said the command had embarked on special patrol that would last between April 18 and April 23.
Emeordi said the command had commenced a mobile court exercise to ensure drivers stick to traffic rules and regulations.
“Erring motorists would be apprehended and sanctioned. There will be more mobile courts just to ensure qualified and dully certified drivers and vehicles ply highways in the state.”
“Our special patrol for the season will not spear drivers without driver’s licence, vehicle particulars, under-aged drivers and those with worn-out tyres,” she said.
The commander called on motorists in the state to desist from speeding, wrongful and dangerous overtaking, overloading, driving under the influence of alcohol, and night journeys. (NAN)
