Some deaths were recorded during the attack on Jos Prison in Plateau State, on Sunday.

Spokesman of the Jos Custodian Center, Geofrey Longdiem, said this in a chat with Daily Trust.

He said he could not give an estimate of those who lost their lives in the attack.

Longdie also said the service is currently doing a headcount of inmates as well as ascertaining the degree of damage done during the attack.

He said: “We are yet to ascertain the actual extend of the damage done. Yes there are deaths but I cannot confirm how many for now. We are making a headcount of the inmates.

“We will issue a press release to let the public know what has happened.”

Daily Trust had reported how gunmen attacked the prison and set a part of it on fire Sunday evening.
