The Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda, on Monday, said he did not lobby to become the speaker of the House.

Hon. Sanda, who became the speaker amidst a crisis that rocked the assembly in recent times, said this while responding to the Jere Community Leaders who visited him in Jos.

He said: “I never dreamed of becoming the Speaker.

“I never go anywhere to lobby for the seat of the Speakership.

“My becoming of the speaker is just the will of God.

“What I know is that the people of Pengana Constituency mandated me to represent them and today God has made me become the Speaker.

Hon. Sanda, however, said the Assembly under his leadership will work closely with Governor Simon Lalong-led administration for the overall benefits of the people of Plateau State.

“We can not succeed when the three arms of government are not working together.

“So, I assured that I will work with our leader, Governor Simon Lalong, so that we can succeed,” he said.

Sanda urged the people to pray for peace and security of the State, adding that people must learn to live peacefully with one another irrespective of their religious or ethnic differences.

On his part, the President of Jere National Development Association (JNDA) in Bassa LGA, Pastor Samuel Mamma, said they visited the speaker to show their solidarity.
