Not fewer than 260 kids drawn from across the country are currently participating in the 3rd Plateau Junior Open Championship taking place in Jos, Daily Trust reports.
Daily Trust gathered that the three-day competition which started on Thursday would end on Saturday with speeches and prizes given to the winners of the competition.
The competition co-sponsored by Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF) and Plateau state government was still ongoing at Rayfield Golf Club in Jos South local government area of Plateau state.
The Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), Sule Bello while speaking with Journalists during the tee-off of the competition on Friday said the aim of the tournament was to bring younger ones together in order to showcase their talents.
He said, “The aim of the competition is to bring the younger ones together in order to showcase their talents and also to disabuse the minds of those saying Golf is for the rich.”
Mr Bello added that the kids came from different background all over the country irrespective of their status.
He said, “About 260 kids from different background all over the country irrespective of their status were assembled here,
“And they would be groomed and be ready for National Golf Championship and International Golf Championship.” He said.
