‘Planned’ tenure extension for Buni’s c’tte splits Benue APC

Trouble seems to be brewing among stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State following the alleged planned extension for the caretaker committee of the party at its apex level in their forthcoming convention.

Sequel to the sides taken by supporters of the party at the state level, the Benue State Chairman of APC, Comrade Abba Yaro and a former governorship aspirant in Benue State, Okpoku Ogenyi as well as his supporters are now at daggers drawn.

Ogenyi, the leader of the Concerned APC Forum, had at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, asked the Caretaker Committee to immediately roll out a programme for the convention and stop planning to extend his tenure as party leader in office.

However, the APC chairman in the state and Ogenyi in separate statements on yesterday engaged themselves in war of words demanding one another’s resignation or risk of suspension.

Yaro in his statement, titled ‘Re: Okpoku Ogenyi and His Many Tales, Sponsored Allegations on APC Caretaker Committee’, handed Ogenyi a 24-hour ultimatum to recount his interview on a national television against the Buni’s committee.

On the other hand, a statement issued on behalf of Ogenyi by one John Obande, called out Yaro, stating that he risk being suspended from the party.

The statement by John Obande, alleged that the party’s chairman reckless statement on Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, a Co-convener, Concerned APC Members (CAM), who is rebuilding the Party was criminal and should be disregarded.
