A UK-funded educational programme, Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) in collaboration with the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB), has trained 1,758 primary school teachers on inclusive instruction and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) to aid classroom delivery.
The state’s Team Lead, Diana Agabi, disclosed this yesterday during a data dissemination workshop in Kaduna.
According to Agabi, to improve quality of education, government must take proactive measures to ensure that teachers and learners are in school with the help of communities.
She said, PLANE observed that the low turnout of teachers, particularly in rural communities, has greatly affected children’s education, particularly in the northern part of the country.

“Developed three sets of evidence-based English Literacy Teaching and Learning (T&L) packages and two Braille Learners’ Books designed to support inclusive education and accessibility.
“To ensure disability inclusion, PLANE collaborated with SUBEB and the MoE to conduct a conceptualisation workshop on the development of braille materials for visually impaired learners.” She said.
Earlier, the Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Kaduna State, Prof. Muhammad Sani Bello, who was represented by the director of planning, Abbas Shehu explained that the ministry is committed to improving quality of education in the state.
