Plan International, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has reached out to 44,397 people in Yobe State through its Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHRs) services, peace building and social cohesion initiatives.
The Country Director of Plan International, Charles Usie Emmamuzou, said it was done through a three-year project to restore the peaceful coexistence and social cohesion of the population affected by the Boko Haram conflict in the state.

He said during the course of the programme in the state, Plan International constructed two new Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) and rehabilitated eight others in the state, adding that it also produced and distributed adolescent SRHRs and maternal neonatal and child health equipment to the 10 PHCs.
He explained that, “On social cohesion, various cases were reported and tracked, amounting to 366 in total. 359 cases were resolved. Many other solutions were also provided to aid the people of Yobe.”
The project was implemented in 10 communities in five local government areas: Maisandari and Mairi in Damaturu LGA: Mashio and Dogon Kuka in Fune LGA; Guya and Tulo-Tulo in Yusufari LGA; Dapchi and Masaba in Bursari LGA; and Dabule and Dumsai in Nguru LGA.
The Programme Specialist at Plan International, Paula Blanco, said, “We are very happy with the outcome. Thanks to the support of the government and everyone involved; the project was successful. Institutions were established in different communities and refugees were integrated.”
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Gana, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Adamu Tella Zimboh, thanked Plan International for successfully completing its rehabilitation project in the state.
