Relegation-threatened Kano Pillars have stated their determination to pick the maximum points in their rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 23 match against neighbours Katsina United.

The abandoned week 23 match has been rescheduled by the League Management Company (LMC) to hold on Thursday, May 26 at the MKO Abiola national stadium Abuja.

It will be recalled that following the disruption of the match by irate fans at the Sani Abacha stadium Kano with the result still 0-0, the LMC banished Pillars to Abuja and ordered that the match be restarted at the 79th minute when it was aborted.

Consequently, both Kano Pillars and Katsina United have only 11 minutes to fight for the full points that are at stake when they clash tomorrow to conclude the match.

Although Katsina United are favoured to share the spoils with Pillars, the Media Officer of the club, Alhaji Rilwanu Idris Malikawa has told Daily Trust that the ‘Masu gida’ boys won’t settle for anything less than victory.

He said it is the three points or nothing, noting that anything short of victory will spell doom for the NPFL heavyweights.

“Kano Pillars are not ready to drop points again so we are not going to share the points with Katsina United.

“We shall make judicious use of the 11 minutes that are available. People may feel that the time is too small for us to beat our opponents but in football, victory can come in one minute,” said Malikawa.

When reminded that Katsina United also have a good chance of winning within the 11 minutes, Malikawa reiterated that Pillars are hungrier than their opponents.

He said Pillars are not going to allow their arch-rivals to win and leave them stranded in the drop zone.

“I have said before that this match is no retreat, no surrender. Pillars will do everything within the rule books to win.

“Victory will give us the boost to fight for the remaining points as we continue with our fight against relegation,” he said.

Pillars thrashed Heartland FC 3-1 in their last home match on Sunday, May 22.
