North-west giants, Kano Pillars and Katsina United managed to record 1-0 victories over Enyimba and Rivers United respectively in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Week 8 fixtures played Sunday.
At the Sani Abacha Stadium, Abba Adam scored the only goal of the match in the 71st minute for Kano Pillars to nick the maximum points while Katsina United’s goal in the 47th minute was enough to hand them victory over Rivers United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
While Pillars now occupy eighth position on the table with 12 points from eight matches, their neighbours, Katsina United are eleventh with 11 points from the same number of matches.
Elsewhere, Lobi Stars defeated Sporting Lagos 1-0 at the Lafia Township Stadium to maintain their leadership of the table with 17 points but are closely followed by Remo Stars who have an outstanding match to play.

Substitute Sunday Chinedu scored Lobi Stars’ goal with a powerful header in the 29th minute of the match to send the home fans into wild jubilation.
In Akure, Sunshine Stars were held to a 2-2 draw by Enugu Rangers, 3SC forced Kwara United to a 1-1 draw at the Ilorin Township Stadium, and Plateau United spanked Abia Warriors 3-1 in Jos while Tornadoes settled for a 0-0 draw with Bendel Insurance in Kaduna.
However, it rained goals in Ikenne where Remo Stars drubbed Gombe United 4-0.
