Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has admitted he has to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer in order to “grow”.
The Gabon-born ace was one of a number of big-name strikers targeted by top clubs around Europe this summer.
However, BVB set interested parties a deadline to make a bid last month.
Chelsea and AC Milan were among the clubs linked with a move for Aubameyang, but neither made a suitable offer.
Last season’s Bundesliga top scorer appeared set to stay at the Westfalenstadion, having netted in the opening day victory over Wolfsburg.
But later insisted he needs to move on to further his development as a footballer.
He told Radio Montecarlo Italy: “I am still reflecting on whether I should leave or not.
“This club and these fans are incredible, but if I want to grow, I feel I need to leave."
