They also lamented their inability to gain admission into the College of Education, Argungu.  Chairman of the state Association of Physically Challenged Persons, Abdulahi Aliyu, made the appeal at a meeting of persons with disability organized by the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development Monday in Birnin Kebbi.
He said: “For some years now, some of our colleagues from other states are benefiting from the monthly allowances approved by their state governments. We visited Sokoto, Abia, Enugu,Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa and others where they receive N6,500,00 every month. This has reduced street begging and made our members to be self employed in those states,” he said.
He expressed concern over the attitude of management of the College of Education Arugungu where according to him, “some members were denied admission. Our condition is not by our will but is the act of God. I want to pass this information to the Ministry of Women Affairs to please tell the governor that our members have been denied admission into the College of Education, Argungu. This is very wrong because we can perform more than those that are physically fit. Some of our members are graduates from universities, polytechnics and the College of Education, Sokoto.
