Many commuters coming from the Emouha Local Government secretariat to Elibrada via Oduoha were seen running helter-skelter while many vehicles parked by the roadside.
Eyewitnesses told our reporter that heavy gunshots that lasted more than an hour forced commuters to make a detour while others hanged around.
The State Police Command Public Relation Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, could not be reached for comment but sources close to the Command said men of the tactical unit of had been deployed to repel the attackers.
The Emouha Kalabari axis of East West Road has become a flashpoint for kidnapping and other criminal activities in recent times.
