Flood has ravaged the military base in Malam Fatori, North-East of Borno State.
Malam Fatori lies close to the Komadougou Yobe river and the shores of Lake Chad by Abadam. It shares a border with Chad and the Niger Republic.
The flood disaster has added to the harsh conditions that the soldiers face as they battle the insurgents.
The troops in the town are known for their remarkable bravery in resisting persistent attacks from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters who are deploying various types of weapons including improvised explosive devices, mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and gun trucks.
Several weeks into the floods, hundreds of residents in the area especially the Internally Displaced Persons, are struggling to find shelter, food and clothing with many settling in open ground under appalling conditions.
Most parts of the town are largely inaccessible because of the flood.
