‘Phone snatcher’ cuts off teenager’s fingers in Abuja

The police in Lugbe suburb of Abuja in the FCT have arrested a suspect over allegations of at-tacking a teenager, Saleh Ibrahim (18), and in the process cutting off two of his fingers.

It was gathered that the victim had returned from grazing his animals and went to the kiosk of a phone charger around 8pm on Sunday where he collected his two mobile phones before he was attacked.

The victim’s uncle, Sulaiman Afawu, told City & Crime that his nephew was confronted and stabbed by the suspect on his forehead before cutting off two of fingers as he was trying to pre-vent him from hitting him on the head again.

Afawu said, “He threw down the two mobile phones in order to save his life and ran back home crying for help. He was rushed to a clinic where is currently on admission.

“The matter was first reported to the police outpost at Tudun-Wada in Lugbe. They contacted the vigilante office in Jiddu village and got the suspect arrested.

Contacted, the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh, promised to make an inquiry on the matter and revert.
