Phoenix University, Agwada in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, is set to matriculate 260 pioneer students for its first-degree programmes.
The vice chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Bala, disclosed this during a press briefing at the university’s Senate building on Thursday.
He said out of an admission quota of 500 allocated for the 2024/2025 academic session, 342 candidates applied, with 260 meeting the required criteria for admission.
The admissions breakdown includes 38 students in the Faculty of Computing, 32 in the Faculty of Applied Science and Agriculture, and 52 in the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.

Academic activities for these students have already commenced, he said.
Professor Bala expressed gratitude to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for awarding scholarships to 92 indigenous students from the state’s 13 local government areas.
The governor has also commissioned the reconstruction of a 24-kilometre road connecting Kokona Junction to Agwada to facilitate movement for students and the host community.
The university will officially install Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi as its Chancellor during the matriculation ceremony.
The vice chancellor expressed appreciation for Indimi’s contributions and praised the university’s founder, Abdullahi Adamu, a former senator representing Nasarawa West, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for the institution.
