Stakeholders in Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PHN) have underscored the importance of introducing new and more innovations to combat health challenges in the country.
At an exhibition and award ceremony for young health innovators in Lagos, the PHN team said with more innovations that addressed local health peculiarities , the country stands the chance of surviving some of its challenges.
Co-chair PHN, Jim Ovia said for Nigeria to make better progress in the health sector, it must encourage indigenous innovations from its youths which address the core of health challenges among the populace.
Ovia advised innovators not to be discouraged if the gains are not manifesting at the early stage. The PHN Co-Chairman said young health innovators must gladdened that they are contributing to the society positively. He said it is a thing of joy for one to understand that it is contributing to humanity.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer, PHN, Dr Muntaqa Umar-Sadiq, despite millions of dollars that had been pumped into Nigerian health sector over the years, there has actually been a little result. He said for greater success to be achieved, there must be sustained encouragement of young health innovators.
