Philanthropist pays bills, donates cash to patients at National Hospital

A young philanthropist, Mrs Juliet Rolbin, has paid hospital bills and made donations to five cancer patients at the National Hospital, Abuja.

The patients are mostly those who could not continue their treatment due to lack of funds.

She also paid the bills for patients who had been discharged but were still at the hospital because they couldn’t afford the bills.

City & Crime reports that they include Giteli Bose, a mother and her newborn who have been discharged for over a week, a psychiatrist patient who has been discharged for over two weeks, and the mother of a premature baby still in the incubator, among others.

Their bills range from N15,000 to N255,000 each.

She also made general cash donations to patients across the different wards of the hospital including oncology, gynaecology, children, and the male medical wards.

Speaking during the exercise at the weekend, Mrs Rolbin said she was inspired to donate at the hospital because she loves helping people in need. She enjoined other Nigerians to offer assistance to indigent patients.

She said, “ I have been doing this for about seven years. I donate to widows and sometimes to communities facing crises.”

Steven Akila, the father of the newborn thanked Mrs Rolbin for the donation, saying it has brought his family succour and will enable his wife to go home.

Maijama’a Adamu, an Assistant Director at the hospital, thanked Mrs Rolbin for the donation.

He said it was timely for many of the patients who could not afford treatment.
