Pharmacists’ council seals 25, 000 illegal premises

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria has sealed about 25,000  illegal premises across the country in the last eight years,  the outgoing registrar of the council, Elijah Mohammed, has said.

He spoke Tuesday in Abuja during the presentation of his scorecard as registrar of the council from June 2014 to June 2022.

He said the offences of the sealed premises ranged from poor documentation, unhygienic environment, non-regularization of their papers and inappropriate behaviours, among others.

He said Nigeria would have about 30 faculties of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences by the end of this year.

The governing board chairman of the council, Prof. Ahmed Tijjani Mora, said that in the now 30 years of the PCN, there had been three substantive registrars, including Mohammed and two acting registrars.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, commended the outgoing registrar saying that  to deliver good health to Nigerians, there is a need to strengthen all regulatory health agencies.
