The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) has said that it is working hard to ensure that all open drug markets in the country are closed to pave way for full implementation of the National Drug Distribution Guidelines (NDDG) within the set deadline of December 31.
The Registrar of the council, Pharmacist Elijah Mohammed, stated this yesterday while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
The closure of open drug markets is part of the full implementation of the NDDGs.
“Indeed, 31 December, 2018 remains the deadline for the implementation of the National Drug Distribution Guidelines (NDDGs). We are very committed to this course and are quite optimistic,” Mohammed said.
He said that the council, the Federal Ministry of Health, under the leadership of the Minister of Health, Prof Isaac F. Adewole and NAFDAC were all very committed to the idea.
He said construction of Coordinated Wholesale Centers (CWCs) has been ongoing at the approved locations in some states.
The registrar who said the federal government recently re-appointed him for another four year term said he would focus on consolidating the achievements of his first tenure, adding that great attention would be given to sanitising the practice environment through strengthening of enforcement activities.
