Petrol tanker explodes close to INEC office in Jos

A petrol tanker at Bok Investment fuel station, close to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), exploded around 4:35pm, causing panic around Sparkling and Miango junction in Jos south local government area of Plateau State.

Our correspondent reports that the sound of the explosion had alerted security agents around INEC office to quickly barricade other sections of the road that were earlier freely used by commuters.

A witness told our correspondent that the workers at the fuel station had noticed the fire early but could not control it because there was no fire extinguishers at the station.
