A 38-year-old petrol station manager, Abayomi Alabi, has been granted bail by an Iyagankun chief magistrate court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing N1,000,035 belonging to his employer.

When arraigned in court, Alabi pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge levelled against him.

Ruling on the matter, Mrs O. O. Ogunkomi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Sikiru Opaleye, had told the court that the accused person committed the crime between July 1 and 26 at Orita-Challenge, Ibadan, Oyo State.

He added that the proprietor of the filling station, one Tunde Popoola had petitioned the police that his employee, Alabi had stolen his money.

The prosecution stated that the offence contravened Section 390 (90) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol. ii Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.

Chief Magistrate Ogunkomi adjourned the suit until Sept. 20 for commencement of trial.
