A group known as Great Nigeria 4 Obi-dDatti (GN4Obidatti) has stated that the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, did not order for the arrest of Mallam Nasir El Rufai while he was the governor of Anambra State.
The group made the statement in Awka Anambra state while reacting to the claim of El-Rufai that the former governor of Anambra state Mr.Obi ordered for his arrest while on visit in the state.
The group particularly pointed at the recent accusations of the Kaduna governor leveled against Obi and called for a proper investigation of the allegation.
The spokesman of the group, Barrister Tony Chukwuelue, with other members of the group, Mr Mike Okaka; Johnny Obika and Shehu Alhassan in their separate speeches described El-Rufai’s allegations against Obi as deliberate falsehood.
The group wondered if El Rufai knows that it is the Commissioner of Police that is responsible for issuance of arrest and detention orders against anyone found guilty of the law and not a Governor.
“It is on record that as a Governor, Peter Obi operated the least number of vehicles in a convoy in Nigeria. That he had always given way to convoys of private citizens and other road users to pass before he continued his trips.
“That in his eight years as Governor, there was no single incidence of Gov Obi or his administration taking any action or steps that ignited tension or breakdown of law and order or crises which is today a daily occurrence in El rufai’s Kaduna State in the past seven and half years”, the group argued.
