The Permanent Secretary, Special Duties (SDO) in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Engr. Festus Daudu, has urged Nigerian students to shun all forms of vices capable of truncating the pursuit of their academic career and bringing their institutions to disrepute.

The Deputy Director Press (SDO), Mrs. Osagie Jacobs Julie in a statement on Sunday said the Permanent Secretary gave the advice when students of Nasarawa State University visited him in his office.

According to her, Engr. Daudu appreciated the achievements of the institution within the short period of its establishment and urged the students to put in their best for the Nasarawa State University to be an institution to be reckoned with amongst other institutions in the country.

He assured the students that the Federal Government was doing all within its power to restore the glory that used to exist in the education sector by ensuring that students graduate at the appropriate time without staying longer than necessary in schools.

“The nation is looking up to you to be the future leaders”, he said while also promising that he will do all within his capacity to assist the University wherever necessary.

Earlier, the President of the Students Union, Comrade Solomon Maitoro, congratulated the Permanent Secretary on his appointment adding that the objective of their visit was to identify with him and also to seek areas of partnership with his office for the development and growth of the Nasarawa State University.

Maitoro appealed for assistance of the office by attracting projects to the institution as the school lacks basic amenities needed for a conducive learning environment.

According to him, the institution presently survives on donations from TETFUND, Central Bank of Nigeria, other agencies and donations from kind-spirited individuals.
