The Permanent Secretary of the Ecological Project Office (EPO), Malam Shehu Ibrahim, has assured that he will ensure fair distribution of intervention projects across the country.
Ibrahim gave the assurance when a team from Veritas University, Abuja, led by the Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof Hyacinth Ichoku, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

In a statement, the spokesman of EPO, Ms Amala Obegolu, said the VC requested for intervention on the erosion threat around the university community in Bwari Area Council.
According to the statement, the permanent secretary, while confirming to the university’s delegation that the project was captured in EPO’s database for intervention, appealed to states and local governments to collaborate with the office to ensure effective management of their ecological intervention funds to address the many environmental challenges across the country.
Ibrahim appreciated the university for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the Bwari community.
He said, “I must commend the university for providing a transformer, constructing a borehole, providing a police post and equipping the vigilante group to beef up security in the community.
“It is also a proactive step not to only assuage the community, but to also give them a sense of belonging. It is a great intervention for the community.’’
Meanwhile, Prof Ichoku appealed to the permanent secretary for quick intervention on the erosion menace around the university and the Bwari community.
He said the university did minor remedial works to tackle the threat but that it did not solve the problem because the extent of the degradation was beyond the university’s capacity.
