Pensioners in Taraba State have appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas to fulfil the promise he made of settling the backlog gratuities.
The pensioners said that by fulfilling the promise, Governor Kefas would set a good legacy of addressing the plight of retired civil servants who were suffering due to unpaid retirement benefits.
Bakari Muhammed Tukur, who retired from the Ministry of Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation in 2013, spoke on behalf of the other retirees, saying he and several other retired civil servants were still waiting for their benefits.
Tukur made the plea while briefing newsmen in Jalingo on Saturday, adding that he was compelled to appeal because of the hard time he and his family were facing as a result of non-payment of his retirement benefits.

He said it was important to make their suffering known to the governor as many pensioners were grappling with health challenges resulting in the death of many of them.
