Pensioners seek review of N6,000 monthly pension

Pensioners in Zamfara State have demanded N25,000 minimum pension as part of the pension review which they said has not been done in the state  since 1999.

The chairman of the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Alhaji Abba Dankande who spoke to Daily Trust in Gusau, lamented that a lot of pensioners in the state were receiving less than N6,000 as pension per month.

The NUP expressed its sadness over disregard to the constitutional requirement stipulating pension review every five years or together with increase of salaries, or whichever comes first.

He then urged the state government to offset all outstanding gratuities of pensioners once and for all.
