Pedestrian crushed to death, six injured in Ogun crash

A pedestrian was crushed to death on Monday, while six others sustained injuries in an accident along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

Our correspondent gathered that accident occured at tollgate area of the highway involving three vehicles a Sino truck marked FST926YA, Howo Truck with registration number GSW180XA and a Yellow Bajaj Tricycle marked KLE876KT.

The Spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident, saying it occured at 7:10am on Monday.

Okpe said seven male adults were involved in the accident out of which six were injured.

She said a pedestrian standing at the road barricade was caught up in the crash.

Okpe said the injured victims were taken to General Hospital, Otta, while the corpse was handed over to the family of the deceased.

She identified the suspected causes of the crash to mechanical deficiency and speed on the part of a Howo truck, which hit the Sino truck from behind.

Okpe quoted that the Sector Commander, Anthony Uga, advised motorists to ensure that morning parade is conducted on individual vehicles before using the highway.
