Peace Committee vows to tackle killings in Zangon Kataf

Worried by renewed hostilities in parts of Atyap chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the Peace and Security Partnership Committee of the Chiefdom has convened a meeting to tackle the problem.

Daily Trust reports that recently there has been a resurgence of hostilities leading to silent killings, sudden disappearance of people and harassment of Fulani herders while herding.

The meeting which was held at the Agwatyap Palace Atak njei, Zango Kataf was also intended to receive reports from various subcommittees set up by the main committee, especially on efforts towards ensuring enduring peace in the area.

In his opening remark, the Chairman of the committee, Mr John Bala Gora, told members that the hostilities must be addressed as they could not be allowed to continue.

He observed with dismay that it had become a routine development that after the committee had held a meeting, a sad event would follow immediately.

He, however, said that the ugly trend will not in any way discourage the committee from pursuing the noble cause of restoring lasting peace to the chiefdom.
